03 What we build

What we build for government and digital public infrastructure

Platforms named the way programme teams name them.

What changes for you
  • Citizens and officials find what they need. Clear information architecture for large, multi-audience public sites.

  • Accessible by default. Accessibility planned in from the first design, so audits find fewer issues.

  • Data published responsibly. Dashboards and open data with methodology, licences and update workflows.

  • AI that cites its sources. Assistants that answer from approved knowledge, cite sources and show admins what they could not answer.

  • 01/08

    National repositories and knowledge platforms

  • 02/08

    Ministry, mission and PSU dashboards

  • 03/08

Websites for DPI and DPG organisations

  • 04/08

    Scheme and programme portals

  • 05/08

    Accessibility remediation

  • 06/08

    Offline field-data apps

  • 07/08

Circulars and guidelines as searchable pages

  • 08/08

    Grievance and feedback intake

04 Compliance, step by step

Will the site pass its accessibility, quality and security checks?

It is built to: we design, test and fix, and the auditors your department uses run the checks.

  1. Design and test

    The standard

Accessible from the first design, to your department's guidelines, such as GIGW.

  2. Quality check

    The standard

Where your department asks for a quality check.

  3. Security audit

    The standard

An audit by a CERT-In-empanelled auditor, where your department asks for one.

  4. Hosting

    The standard

NIC or a MeitY-empanelled cloud, as your department requires.

05 Rules we design for

Which other rules shape a government platform?

Rules on accessibility, security, personal data, open source, open data and language. We plan the platform around them; your department decides what applies.

Knowledge, not certification · not legal advice

Who certifies

06 How to buy

How do we actually engage you?

In one of three ways, depending on what your organisation’s procurement rules allow: directly, through a research or implementing partner, or alongside a curating partner.

Directly
With a department, mission or public-sector undertaking, under its own procurement process.
Through a partner
As the technology partner to a research organisation or implementing agency, as with Crime and Punishment, which Tailwebs built and maintains for Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy.
Alongside a curator
With a curating partner that runs the programme, while we design and build the platform.
Documents on request
References from relevant past work, and details of the team who would work on your project.

07 Hosting and handover

Where does it run, and who owns it after go-live?

Your department does. It runs in-country, in accounts your department owns, and the source code and documentation are handed over so NIC, a state data centre or another vendor can run it.

08 FAQ

Questions about government website development.

Do you build GIGW-compliant websites?
Yes. Government work is accessible by default, and we design and test to the guidelines your department sets, such as GIGW. Where a formal certificate is required, it comes from the auditor your department uses.
Can you host on NIC or MeitY-empanelled cloud?
Yes. We deploy to the hosting your department requires, such as NIC or a MeitY-empanelled cloud, and plan the architecture around its rules.
In government chatbot development, can the bot avoid making things up?
It can be built to answer only from approved documents and cite its sources, as the NFTR Assistant does, and to log questions it cannot answer so admins can fill the gap.
Do you support Hindi and other Indian languages?
Yes. We plan multilingual content from the start, with human translation or machine translation, including the national Bhashini platform. TailGPT, the AI agent we run on our own site, answers visitors who ask in Hindi.
How do you handle security requirements?
We plan around the security rules your department follows, including CERT-In guidance on logging and incident reporting. Builds have role-based access and an audit log of changes, we apply OWASP practice, and we support third-party security audits before go-live.
Can you work through an implementation partner?
Yes, we work directly with departments, as a technology partner to research organisations and alongside curating partners.
Will the code be open source?
If your programme follows the government's open-source policy, we plan the licence and repository for release from the start.
Is Tailwebs one of the government software companies in Bangalore?
Yes. Tailwebs was founded in Bengaluru, has its office in Domlur, and builds websites, dashboards and AI assistants for government programmes and DPI bodies, including the NITI Aayog Frontier Tech Repository portal, the MOSIP brand website and Marketplace, and eGov's brand websites.
