iOS app development company for iPhone and iPad

Tailwebs is an iOS app development company in Bengaluru that designs, builds and launches apps for iPhone and iPad and takes them through App Store review. Founded in 2015, we have delivered 200+ projects, and we publish and run three apps of our own on the App Store. Every iOS build starts with the product plan, not the screens.

02 When it fits

When a native iOS build fits

A native iOS build fits when the app depends on Apple-only features or in-app subscriptions, or when most of the people you are building for carry an iPhone or iPad.

Project traits

  1. Your target users are mainly on iPhone or iPad. For example, a consumer app launching in the UK or the US first.
  2. Revenue depends on in-app purchases or subscriptions. For example, a premium or subscription app, where Apple's purchase rules shape the paywall from the first design.
  3. The product is built around Apple-only capabilities. Apple Pay, Sign in with Apple, health data or widgets are part of what the app does: see the capabilities we plan around.
  4. The app is for iPad in the field. For example, sales teams, clinics or classrooms that work from a tablet all day.
  5. You already have the app on Android and need an iOS version that feels native.

03 Apple features

Apple capabilities we plan around

For many products these features are the reason to build natively, and we have shipped each of them. Every one comes with rules the app has to follow, so each is decided at the start of the project.

04 App Store review

Getting through App Store review

Apple reviews every app and every update before it reaches the App Store, and most rejections come from a short list of known causes. These six are worth checking before the first submission.

Common reasons for rejection
  1. Privacy details that don't match the app

  2. No way to delete an account

  3. Digital goods sold outside Apple's system

  4. A reviewer who can't get in

  5. A build no one has tested

  6. An incomplete listing

If Apple rejects the build
  1. Read the guideline cited

Apple's message names the guideline the app missed, and that sets what has to change.

  2. Fix it, or reply

Change the build or the listing, or answer the reviewer in App Store Connect when the app already meets the rule.

  3. Resubmit

The fixed build, or the reply, goes back to the reviewer.

05 How we build

iOS app development services: how we build and keep up with each iOS release

A CTO asks two things together: how the app is built, and whether it will still work after Apple's next release.

  1. 01

    Language and UI framework

New apps are written in Swift, with SwiftUI for the interface.

  2. 02

    Testing

Releases are tested with unit tests, UI tests and on real devices before they ship.

  3. 03

    Apple's interface conventions

Navigation, text sizes, Dark Mode and the accessibility settings follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, so the app feels at home on an iPhone and behaves the way its users expect.

  4. 04

    Each year's iOS release

Apple publishes beta versions of the next iOS months before it ships. Each summer we test the app on them and fix what has changed before users install the update.

  5. 05

    The SDK Apple requires

From a date Apple announces each year, new apps and updates must be built with a recent version of Apple's tools and SDK, so an app that is not moved across cannot ship its next update. The current requirement and its date are on Apple's upcoming requirements page.

How long does it take to build an iOS app?
Our draft MVP Launch package takes 8–14 weeks, plus time for App Store review.
Do you handle App Store submission and review?
Yes: we publish and run our own apps on the App Store, and take yours through submission and review.
Can you update our app for the latest iOS version?
Yes. We test it on the new iOS, fix what has changed and move it to the SDK Apple requires for new submissions.
Do you build iOS apps in Swift and SwiftUI?
Yes. New iOS apps are written in Swift, with SwiftUI for the interface.
Do you build Apple Watch apps?
Yes: we build Apple Watch companion apps, planned with the iPhone app so each device does the job it suits. See wearable app development.
