01 Cost guide · hiring
How much does it cost to hire developers in India?
The cost to hire developers in India through Tailwebs is ₹1.8–4 lakh a month ($2,200–4,800) for a dedicated full-time developer, by role and seniority. A product squad (PM, designer, 2–3 developers and QA) is ₹6–12 lakh a month, and small jobs are billed at ₹2,000–4,000 an hour. A team member is assigned within 10 days of approval.

05 Start and terms
How fast can a developer start, and what is the commitment?
A team member is assigned within 10 days of approval, and there is no hiring cost. From then on, the engagement runs on the monthly terms beside this.
Teams we have run: developers provided to Contribly, a dedicated team on Cook and Chef's product, and full teams for WAC and Aadhar India, from idea to scale. The rest of the draft terms are in our FAQ, and the terms for every hire are on the hire hub. Hiring from abroad? See our pages for teams in the UK and the US.

06 Which fits
Hire dedicated developers, a squad or by the hour: which fits?
Start from what you already have: a product lead who needs hands, a product that needs a whole team, or one bounded job. Many products move from one to another as they grow.
“We have a product lead and need more hands on the code.”
FitsOne dedicated developer₹1.8–4 lakh a month ($2,200–4,800). Start with one, and add a second when the backlog shows the need.
“We need a whole team to ship the product, not only developers.”

“We have one small, bounded job on a product that already runs.”
Not sure which? Tell us about the work: the product, the people you already have and the date you are working to. We will suggest a starting point, and you can change the shape later as the work changes.
07 Keep it in check
How do you keep a dedicated team's cost under control?
Grow the team only when the work proves the need, and keep the work where you can see it. Four habits do most of it.
Start with one developer
Add a second developer, or move to a squad, when the backlog shows the need, not before. One developer who knows the product well is worth more than two still learning it.
Set a rhythm for releases
Agree how often working software reaches you, such as every week, so progress is something you can try rather than a status report you have to trust.
Client-owned accounts
Cloud, store, domain and code accounts are set up in your name, where possible <span class="draft">Draft</span>, so a change of team never means a migration.
Review the backlog monthly
Once a month, check what shipped against what was planned, drop what no longer matters, and size the team to the work ahead.
